Its Just a Phone

Above and below are pictures of what looks like your average iPhone.

In an attempt to keep myself physically fit I have been trying to exercise each day. As a stay at home mom, that exercising often needs to include the girls so most days I jog or walk with my double jogging stroller. The girls really seem to like it. Most of the time they ask to bring a blanket and toy along for the ride. On Monday morning we went for one of these typical jogs. Pictured above is Ellie's toy phone that she likes to "talk" on. She loves to "talk" to grandma, grandpa and her cousin Tayvia. This was her toy of choice for Monday's run.

Shortly into our 2 mile run, I noticed that Ellie was asleep. That was all well and good, but when we got home, she no longer had her toy phone. Now I know it is just a toy, but I know its a toy that she likes, so retracing our steps we went back around the block. As real as this phone looks, I was certain we would not be able to find it. I thought for sure someone would have picked it up for themselves and if they noticed it was fake, they probably would have tossed it, not laid it gently back on the sidewalk. But for Ellie's sake, I looked.

Down the street and around the corner we walked and gratitude hit me like a wall when I saw the phone laying on the sidewalk. I told Ellie we needed to tell Heavenly Father thank you for helping us find her phone. So right there on the side of the road, I crouched down by the stroller and we said a prayer. It was all so simple, and I hadn't prayed aloud for Him to help me find it, but I know He knew my heart. Since then, Ellie has said more than once that Jesus helped her find her phone, and often includes it in her prayers.

I know that God is mindful of us. He cares about all of the things we care about. Big or small.

  1. Great story. I know Ellie's had that "phone" for quite a while now. She might be eligible for a upgrade soon? ;)
